Replace Submit and Clear button for OnKeyPress

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if it is possible to replace the submit and clear button by a OnKeyPress function, I manage to solve half of the problem by replacing the OnSubmit by a OnKeyUp and that work but my problem is when you hit the backspace nothing happen and you keep the same filtering option without reseting the lasg key pressed.

I hope that you understand me, let me know if you can help me or if you need further explanation.
